Balthazar

This French influenced restaurant is always filled to the brim; so, I recommend having a reservation before you arrive. If you can’t get into Balthazar head to Pastisse in the meat packing district which has the same owners. The ambiance of Balthazar recreates a hip Parisian café. The restaurant consists of large mirrors and endless red leather banquets. It’s a staple in SoHo and is especially known for its bread; so, look forwarded to your bread basket at the beginning of the meal. I would stock up on Balthazar’s bread and pastries, which you can buy at Balthazar’s bakery next door. This restaurant is a perfect place to journey to after a day of shopping. I suggest for lunch the Moule Frites. Regular patrons include movie stars, jet setting Europeans, and cool downtowners. When you come to eat dress with understated glamour or they just might be too “busy” to squeeze you in.
