The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Do not skip going here when you are in New York City. It is the largest art museum in the United States so make sure that you leave plenty of time for discovery. It is spread across about 2 million square feet and was built in 1874. You will find any type of artwork or historical period that might interest you. There are even entire historic rooms. Even after all that exploration leave time for the gift shops, which always have unique souvenirs. The museum is where the famous Met Gala happens with all your favorite celebrities raising money for the Costume Institute. A highlight of the collection is the Temple of Dendur and that part of the building has large windows towards Central Park with amazing views. Views to top that—some say even the best in NYC—are found on the roof garden. After you are done taking a ton of photos on the roof, maybe stop at the really popular cafe there.
